Doug Weigel's 1916 Ford Model T Milk Truck is one of this year's featured cars at the Super Nationals.

This one-of-a-kind, all steel body milk truck was hand-built by the owner, Doug Weigel. It is powered by a blown 350 Chevrolet engine, 400 transmission and 8.8 Ford rear-end. The aluminum milk jugs, breathers and interior were also created by Doug.

Doug built this milk truck not only because he loves creating vehicles similar to the ones in the early 1900’s and making them hot rods—he also wanted to pay tribute to his family’s history of being in the dairy business in Knoxville, Tennessee.

He designed this truck from the Model T trucks they used in his Grandfather’s day. He used the original name and phone number from the dairy he grew up on, in Knoxville. It was located on the French Broad River.

Doug lives and works in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and still has all of the original, one-of-a-kind cars he has created (all in steel) over the past several years. Weigel is a steel sculptor and prototype fabricator in Albuquerque, New Mexico and farms in Woodruff County, Arkansas. He started building street rods as a teenager in Knoxville, Tennessee. His favorite cars were ‘28 and ‘29 roadsters. He would buy parts that he needed at junkyards or would buy whole cars for $50 to get the parts he needed. He worked on other peoples cars too, after school and working on the family dairy farm. He also raced those cars two nights a week. He started building cars again about twelve years ago after a long gap of time like most guys who work and raise a family.
